Build Your Own Outdoor Fire Pits

No matter how beautiful your house is, there will inevitably be times when you simply have to enjoy the great outdoors. To make the outdoors even more inviting, you may want to look into your options in outdoor fire pits. Outdoor fire pits make great conversation pieces or simply someplace warm and inviting to stand around on those chilly nights.
There are many different types of outdoor fire pits spanning the range from high end models costing hundreds of dollars are even more to homemade structures that can be quite inexpensive. You dont necessarily have to spend a great deal of money just to have outdoor fire pits and by carefully planning your materials and construction you should be able to get one without taking out a second mortgage.
Since your outdoor fire pits will obviously be used for burning flammable material, it is important to keep safety in mind at all times. One of the best ways to do this is by making sure that there is nothing above the pit that can cause a fire to spread out of control with. It would be best to place your outdoor fire pits several yards away from your house well away from any tree branches that could catch fire overhead. Also make sure that there is no dry grass or branches around that can quickly catch fire. As much fun as outdoor fire pits can be, they do require a fair degree of responsibility and care in order to ensure their proper and safe usage.
Outdoor fire pits are obviously going to be exposed to all types of weather conditions, which can cause them to show signs of wear and tear early on. That being so, most outdoor fire pits are generally constructed out of strong and hardy materials that will bear the brunt of the weather conditions without showing any apparent sign of damage. Nevertheless, it would be best to use stronger materials such as brick, concrete, or stone when building your outdoor fire pits.
You will also want to make sure that your irrigation is under control since rain may result in a lot of water gathering at the bottom of your outdoor fire pits. This will obviously make it harder for you to light the fire when you want to use it, and will also make the bottom muddy when it is not in use. For this reason, you should allow for sufficient drainage when planning out your outdoor fire pits. A few carefully placed drainage holes should do the trick, and you should be able to enjoy a clean, dry outdoor fire pit with very little effort on your part.
