In every household garage, car polish is a familiar product required for the upkeep of the family car. The reason is simple; everyone loves a shiny car and a good polish helps you get the brand new look back. Car polishes not only make your car look fresh, but also help protect the paint and prevent paint failure. Bird poo, oil, dust and grime are some of the pollutants that accumulate on the outer surface of a car over a period of time. Just washing your car is not sufficient as most of these contaminants have acids and adhesive agents in them which stick to the car paint and slowly eat through the protective layer of paint exposing bare metal. Exposed metal leads to corrosion, rust and reduction in the life of the car as also its resale value. There are numerous car polishes in the market with a varying number of ingredients. However, most car polishes have abrasive component to help remove the oil and grime marks. Some car polish products also include filler agents to fill in the gaps left by scratch marks. Polishing a car is an involved process, a practiced procedure really. The first step is to wash the car . Wash first with plain water and then with a car specified detergent mix. Detergent used for washing clothes are never to be used as they are strong and may damage your car paint. The third stage is to again wash off the car detergent with plain water. Use a chamois leather car towel or a micro fiber car towel to dry your car. The next step is to apply the car polish with an applicator brush in an even manner. There should be no gaps in the application of the car polish. Leave the car polish for the time specified in your products instructions. The last step is to remove the car polish with a micro towel to get a brand new look. The abrasive ingredients and dissolvent will remove the old grime oil and dust and the wax component in the car polish will give the requisite shine and protection. The wax component is also water repellant which will help protect your car paint. The question arises as to how often should someone polish a car. A two to three week interval is recommended between car polishing. This is because every car polish has an abrasive component which acts by removing microns thick layer of paint to reveal a shiny layer and thus over time leads to the paint thinning and becoming dull. So a sensible interval between polishing is a must. Related Information Car wash supplies ... Car polish ... Automobile ... Waterless car washing ... Ultimate car wash ...
